Introduction

About the work(Artist's note)
These days, I'm paying attention to the spot where a butterfly stayed.
When I start painting, I try to include freedom and nature.
Since flowers are not enough to express freedom, I search for butterflies.
I determined to pull a pin out of a stuffed butterfly, break the window and fly it someday. 
If a butterfly is my body, the space in the background should be my spirit.
That space begins from a white blank, searches for various Korean motifs, 
and for now it stays at the surface of the pottery for a while. 
Evolution of work is always like word chain. 
From a flying flower to a butterfly... a white blank background of a butterfly
to texture of hanji (Korean traditional paper)... 
Again the feeling of a pottery... bending of pottery to metal sense...
Metal rusts and discolors along with the stream of time.
These days, I'm interested in metal rust surface in fractal form.
This also advances into the screen center deeply for now,
while it was staying in the edge of the screen as Maehwapi formed on 
Yidodawan's heel evolves. 
Nowadays, I can properly control balance between thoroughly calculated expression and predictable random factors, 
which is interesting to me. Narrative can express the universe and the sky widely...
sometimes the mountains and the fields of our land, 
in smaller ways, cells as particles or crystal and texture of a material.
As always, my work tells two conflicting messages.
Suppression of reality through fixed butterfly, simultaneously 
a strong desire for free will.
Through a butterfly in the blank, emptiness and filling... 
a philosophy that one can be filled after it's be emptied... 
Division through the crack separated to pieces... at the same time
connection and communication... inseparable human relationship
through the inlay lines along with the crack.
Through the corroded metal surface, golden lay line, and spots, 
calm waiting of long time and at the same time current trend
which is splendid and rapidly changing are expressed. 
Several layered thick texture stroke of brush looks free,
however from a distance, just like a symphony, matiere dances and sings
in orderly along with a conductor.
Ginkgo leaves scatter and pile up. 
From the viewpoint of the nature, this truly maintains the order. 
If fallen leaves pile up in order just like perilla leaf pickle, 
isn't it a disorder?
