Artist Statement

   근래의 작업에서 쌀이라는 소재를 형태소로 활용한다. 무한을 연상시키는 형태의 도열이나 모노크롬 분위기의 정제된 화면에서 정신성은 이어진다. 무(無), 공(空). 허(虛) 같이 정형화되기 힘든 관념 또한 담기의 대상이 될 수 있다. 수평적 구도로 화면의 바깥으로 연장되는 느낌을 살리는 것은 무한함을 설정할 수 있음을 유도한다. 형태에 있어서 시작과 끝의 중간 토막을 신중히 포착하고 싶다. 이 중간은 무한의 한 토막으로서의 유한이며, 작품의 변주는 무한하다고 할 수 있다. 어떤 색이 공존하든 부드러운 연결을 지향한다. 그것이 풍경이라면 당연히 하늘이나 바다, 또는 그 모두이며, 화면 안의 색 띠는 일출같은 중요한 사건을 알리는 증후이자, 그 사건의 축이 되어주는 수평선이나 지평선 역할을 한다. 그것이 이념적 또는 세대 간의 경계라면 흡수와 동화, 이해와 소통을 의미한다. ‘Cloud’라는 제목은 하늘을 배경으로 떠 있는 가장 자연스러운 것을 암시함과 동시에 현대 디지털 문화에서 공유되고 있는 정보의 저장소를 상징한다. 저장소를 채우는 것은 쌀 알갱이 모양의 입자이며 물질과 문화의 관계를 맺는 매개체 역할을 한다. 점이 기하학적이고 관념적 요소라면, 쌀은 유기적이고 물질적인 요소라고 볼 수 있다. 쌀이라는 형태소를 통해 나는 자연의 실재를 추상화하려 한다.   2022.12.13 문수만

    In the recent work, I use rice as a morpheme. In the refined screen filled with the line-up of shapes reminding of infinitude or monochrome mood, the spirituality is continued. The concepts that are hard to be standardized such as nothing, nought, and emptiness could be the object of containing. Highlighting the feeling like expanding outside the screen in the horizontal structure, induces the possibility of setting up the infinitude. I want to carefully capture the middle piece between beginning and end of shape. This middle could be finite as a piece of infinitude, and the variation of work could be infinite. No matter which colors coexist, it aims for soft connection. If it is a landscape, it is certainly the sky, sea, or everything. And the color strip in the screen is working as the horizon that is the axis of the event as a sign informing an important event like sunrise. If it is the boundary between ideologies or generations, it means absorption and assimilation, and understanding and communication. The title ‘Cloud’ not only implies something the most natural floating in the sky, but also symbolizes the information repository shared in modern digital culture. The repository is filled with rice-shaped particles, which is working as a medium of the relation between material and culture. When a point is a geometric and conceptual element, rice could be viewed as an organic and material element. “I aim to abstract the reality of nature through the morpheme of rice.”    Dec. 13, 2022  Soo-Man Moon

私は最近の作業で「コメ(米)」という素材を形態素として活用している。無限を連想させる形態の一連の列やモノクロ雰囲気の精製された画面で精神性は続く。「無」、「空」、「虚」のように定型化されにくい観念もやはり盛り込む対象になりうる。水平的構図で画面の外へ延長される感じを活かすことは無限さを設定できることを誘導する。形態において始まりと終わりの中間を慎重に捉えたい。この中間は無限の一部分として有限であり、作品の変奏は無限であると言える。どんな色が共存しようがやさしいつながりを目指す。それが風景ならば当然空か海、もしくはそのすべてである。なお、画面の中の色帯は日の出のような重要な事件を知らせる症候であり、その事件の軸になってくれる水平線か地平線の役割をする。また、それが理念的もしくは世帯間の境界ならば吸収と同化、理解と疎通を意味する。「Cloud」というタイトルは空を背景に浮いている最も自然なものを暗示すると同時に現代デジタル文化の中で共有されている情報の貯蔵庫を象徴する。貯蔵庫を埋めているのは米粒状の粒子であって物質と文化の関係を結び付ける媒体としての役割を担う。点が幾何学的かつ観念的な要素であるとすればコメは有機的かつ物質的な要素であると言える。「コメ(米)という形態素を通じて私は自然の実在を抽象化したいと思う。」

   In meiner jüngsten Arbeit verwende ich das Material von Reis als Morphem. Spiritualität setzt sich in der an die Unendlichkeit erinnernden Anordnung von Formen oder auf der raffinierten Leinwand mit einer monochromen Atmosphäre fort. Schwer zu gestaltende Ideen wie Nichts, Leere und Zwecklosigkeit können auch Objekte sein, die enthalten sein können. Die Belebung des Gefühls, sich in einer horizontalen Komposition bis zur Außenseite der Leinwand zu erstrecken, führt zu der Möglichkeit, Unendlichkeit einzustellen. Ich möchte den mittleren Teil zwischen Anfang und Ende der Form sorgfältig erfassen. Diese Mitte ist endlich als ein Teil der Unendlichkeit und die Variationen des Werks können als unendlich bezeichnet werden. Wenn es sich um eine Landschaft handelt, ist es natürlich der Himmel, das Meer oder beides, und das Farbband auf der Leinwand ist ein Symptom, das ein wichtiges Ereignis wie den Sonnenaufgang ankündigt, und dient als Horizont am See oder Horizont, der zur Achse dieses Ereignisses wird. Wenn es eine ideologische oder Generationengrenze ist, bedeutet es Absorption und Assimilation, Verständnis und Kommunikation. Der Titel „Cloud“ impliziert das Natürlichste, das am Himmel schwebt, und symbolisiert gleichzeitig die Speicherung von Informationen, die in der modernen digitalen Kultur geteilt werden. Den Speicher füllen reiskornförmige Partikel, die als Medium dienen, um eine Beziehung zwischen Material und Kultur herzustellen. Wenn ein Punkt ein geometrisches und abstraktes Element ist, kann Reis als organisches und materielles Element angesehen werden. „Durch das Morphem von Reis versuche ich, die Realität der Natur zu abstrahieren“.   13. 12. 2022 Moon Soo Man

   我在最近的工作中,把大米这个材料用作形态素。精神性在让人联想起无限的形态排列或单色氛围的精制画面中延续。像无、空、虚一样难以定型化的观念也可以成为表现对象。以水平结构表现出向画面外延长的感觉,诱导可以设定无限。想要在形态方面捕捉开始和结束的中间段。中间是无限的一段有限,作品的变奏可以说是无限的。不管什么颜色共存,目标都是柔和的连接。如果那是风景,当然是天空、大海或全部,画面中的色带是表现出日出等重要事件的症候,也发挥成为其事件轴心的水平线或地平线的作用。如果这是理念或代际的境界,就意味着吸收和同化、理解和沟通。“Cloud”这个标题暗示着以天空为背景漂浮的最自然的事物,同时也象征着现代数字文化中共享信息的储存所。填满储存所的是米粒形状的颗粒,发挥物质与文化关系的媒介作用。如果说点是一个几何和观念因素,那么大米就是一个有机和物质因素。“我想通过大米这个形态素抽象化自然的真实存在。”   2022.12.13 文秀万

     Dans mes travaux récents, j'utilise la matière du riz comme morphème. La spiritualité se poursuit sur l'écran raffiné avec une forme évoquant l'infini ou une ambiance monochrome. Comme Rien, Vide. Néant, les idées difficiles à standardiser peuvent également faire l'objet d'un contenance. Evoquer un sentiment d'extension vers l'extérieur de l'écran avec une composition horizontale conduit à la possibilité de fixer l'infini. En termes de forme, je veux attraper prudemment la partie médiane entre le début et la fin. Ce milieu est un fini comme un morceau d'infini, et les variations de l'œuvre peuvent être dites infinies. Quelle que soit la couleur qui coexiste, je vise une connexion douce. S'il s'agit d'un paysage, c'est bien sûr le ciel, la mer, ou les deux, et c'est est un symptôme qui annonce un événement important comme un lever de soleil coloré sur l'écran, et sert de ligne horizontale ou d'horizon qui devient l'axe de l'événement. S'il s'agit d'une frontière idéologique ou générationnelle, cela signifie absorption et assimilation, compréhension et communication. Le titre "Cloud" implique la chose la plus naturelle qui flotte dans le ciel et en même temps cela symbolise le stockage d'informations partagées dans la culture numérique moderne. Les choses qui remplissent le stockage est de particules en forme de grains de riz qui servent un intermédiaire pour établir une relation entre le matériel et la culture. Si un point est un élément géométrique et abstrait, le riz peut être vu comme un élément organique et matériel. "A travers du riz comme un morphème, j'essaie d'abstraire la réalité de la nature."
